Song of the Books - Part 3

Ed Bennett's 'Song of the Books' for cello, ensemble and electronics takes as it’s starting point material from the traditional Irish tune ‘Amhrán na Leabhar’ treating it in radical ways which move far away from the original song whilst retaining some of it’s familiar ghostly resonances.

The work was co-commissioned by Decibel and the Crash Ensemble for joint premieres at Cafe Oto, London and Kilkenny Arts Festival, Ireland in 2019). The creation of this work was made possible with funds provided by the PRSF Composers Fund and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland Major Individual Artist Award.
